She was the widow of Henry Livingston with daughter Mary (b. 1850, Canada) when she married Jacob Ruttan. Daughter Mary Livingston (10, CAN) was living with them in 1860, then married James F. Cox (1845, IN) on 4 Feb 1868 in Knoxville, Marion Co, IA. (James was listed as widowed and living in Bloomer, Chippewa Co, WI in 1900)
After Jacob Ruttan died in 1871, she was married a 3rd time a year later, to James Austin. They are listed in 1880, James as a farmer (53, NY) and Elizabeth (58, IRE) as his wife.
Listed in 1900 as Ele, married 28 yrs, with only 3 of 12 children living, age 77 and born in Ireland, with husband James.
She is listed with James as age 82 in 1905.
By 1910 she and James are living with her son Charles Ruttan and his family. She is listed as 87, married 37 yrs, with only 3 of her 11 children surviving.

Listed as Jacob Rattan (25, CAN) a blacksmith in the 1856 Iowa state census, with wife Elizabeth (26, IRE) daughters S. J. (7, CAN) and Mary (6, CAN) and sons John (4, CAN) and Henry (1, CAN).
He is listed as Jacob Rutan (23, CAN) a blacksmith in 1860 Iowa census. With him is his wife Elizabeth (32, IRE) and children Mary (10, CAN) and Charles (2, IA).
His Civil War Draft Registration in 1863 lists him as 30 and born in New York and living in Monmouth, Jackson Co, IA.
Settled in Bloomer, Wisc. He had two children, Charles and Amanda, according to the letter by Marian B. (Ruttan) Fuller. He died shortly after writing to his cousin Henry T. Ruttan to try and get in contact after 18 years. The letter was sent 8 July 1871 and is in my possession, but he died before the reply arrived.
