Came from New York state. He is listed in Palmyra in 1840 and Preston Twp in the 1850 and 1860 census, as a farmer with his name spelled Bennet in the two latter census. He is listed with what appears to be a second wife, Eliza in 1860, along with Oliver and Davillo.
He lived near the Little York cemetery according to the Wayne County atlas of 1870. And in that census he is listed as a farmer age 63 with what appears to be a second wife Esther (63 NJ) and a son Eugene (10). He is listed as 73, living with his son Sidney in the 1880 census for Preston Twp.
He is buried in Little York Cem with his wife.
