Misc. Notes
Came to Schuyler from New Bedford, CT about 1800.
He had 3 wives, 21 children, and 75 grandchildren according to Klock book.
Apparently Ebenezer's brother, Akin Tallman was a substitute for Ebenezer in the military during the War of 1812. He was in for about a month and a half (Oct 5 to Nov 18, 1814) and was discharged at Sackett's Harbor. Ebenezer's third wife, Maria Wheaton Tallman, applied for a pension after Ebenezer died. She claimed he went, but the War Dept rejected her claim showing that Akin went in his place. The only other possibility was that Ebenezer served some of the days and then Akin replaced him, even though Ebenezer's name was not on the rolls. Maria even applied stating that he served from Mass. I (Helen O’Connor) think she was desperate. Brother Akin received the bounty land for serving, but I think he sold it. It proves that Ebenezer's father William did not go in his place as suggested in the Wayne Co Hist Soc papers.
His first wife died in Schuyler in 1813, and he is listed there in 1820 and lived there the rest of his life.
