Attended Miller school with Omar, Melva and Clarence. Bernice Carmean has a picture of them outside the school in 1896. Was living in Middlebury Twp, where she was born, in 1913 when they were married in Waterford Church of Christ. Bernice Carmean said that Josie had twin sons who only lived a week or so in 1919 (between Bernice and Orrie). They had respiratory problems and died at birth, unnamed. They are buried at the foot of Joseph Miller Wells grave in North Fork Cem. Was living in Lexington, OH in 1929. Received family bible from her father in his will, it then went to Orrie and on to his daughter, Mary.
Listed in the 1940 census in Mt Gilead as widow (50, OH) with her son Orrie (18, OH). She was working as a cook in a restaurant and had completed the 8th grade. Son Orrie was working as pin-boy in the bowling alley and had completed 3 yrs of high school. It says they were living in Morrow Co in 1935.
Registered for her birth certificate in 1941 at which time she lived at 211 S. Market, Galion OH.

Mrs. Ruhl
Galion - Mrs. Josie Sophia Ruhl, 80, of 130 1/2 North Union Street, Galion, died Sunday, 9 p.m. in Galion Community Hospital where she had been a patient since September.
She was a native of Knox County and was a member of the Church of Christ at Waterford and Galion Golden Age Club. She is survived by two sons, Lester of RD1, Bellville and Ora, of Galion; a daughter, Mrs. Paul Carmean, of Caledonia; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three brothers, Frank Wells of Jelloway, Oliver Wells of Sterling, Colorado, Robert Wells of Butler and one sister, Mrs. Iva Countryman of Butler.
Services will be held Tuesday, 3:30 p.m. at Snyder-Kubach Funeral Home, Portland Way North in Galion. The Rev. Frank Marlett officiating. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery, Waterford.

Misc. Notes
Darlington, where he was born, is in Richland Co. He was a carpenter, and was living in Franklin Twp, Morrow Co when they were married. He built mostly barns. Later he began farming by sharecropping or going in on thirds. They lived on a couple farms in the Batemantown area and north of Waterford. Died of influenza while they were living on the Algire farm near Lexington, OH which has now been turned into a resort (Cedar Creek Ranch).
