Son of John F. (1844, IRE) and Annie (1848, IRE) Cavanaugh. He had a brother Albert (1879, NV). His name is spelled both with and without a “U”.
Listed with his wife as Fred J. Cavanagh, a railway postal clerk (32, NV) married 7 yrs in 1910. They had 6 lodgers living with them.

Fred Cavanaugh, who was born in Virginia City 70 yrs ago, died Saturday afternoon at his home on Reno Ave.
For many years Mr. Cavanaugh was a railway mail clerk and since his retirement had been living in Reno.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Katie Drown Cavanaugh of Reno, and five sisters and brothers, Gertrude, Alice, Bert, Frank and George Cavanaugh of San Francisco.

She came to Nevada at an early age and attended school in Reno, graduating from the University of Nevada in 1895. She later taught school in Reno.
In 1940 she (56, ME) and Fred were in Reno, with her brother Clement (47, NV) living with them.
She died in a Reno hospital after a short illness. She was survived by her husband, Fred J. Cavanaugh, a sister, Mrs. Alice Tallman, and a brother, Clement Robb.
Final decree for her will dated 10 Oct 1917 was recorded 14 May 1947 as $1,171 to receipts and $2,566 distributed. She went by Anna, and provided info for her father's death cert and was living in Reno at the time (1929).
