William R. Tallman, 81, of York, died Monday, July 14, 2008 at Cross Keys Village at The Brethren Home Community. He was the husband of Yvonne [Yerger] Tallman to whom she was married for 51 years on May 4, 2008.
Born August 4, 1926 in White Mills, Wayne Co., a son of the late Harold P. and Irene B. [Spinner] Tallman, he was a graduate of Honesdale High School and Southeastern University in Washington, DC. He retired from McCrory Stores in 1992 as Senior Vice President, after 42 years of service. He was a member of VFW Post 799, Patton, PA; Barnesboro American Legion Vozdak 508; Fraternal Order of Eagles 1244, Patton; and was a former member of Bucks Cove Rod and Gun Club. He also enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing. Mr. Tallman was a US Army veteran of WWII where he was awarded a Bronze Star.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Tallman is survived by three sons, Michael J. and wife Jean Tallman of Houston, TX, Perry E. and wife Becky Tallman of York, and Thomas N. Tallman of Lancaster; five grandchildren, Christopher, Mary, Matthew, Brett, and Katie Tallman; and a sister in law, Evelyn Tallman of Boulder, CO. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard J. Tallman.
Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery with Full Military Rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard.

YORK - Yvonne (Yerger) Tallman, 81, of West Manchester Township, died Thursday, July 17, 2014, at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late William R. Tallman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 21, 2014 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 950 W. Market St. in York. Viewings will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday with a prayer service at 5:45 p.m. at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road in York, and 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday at the church. Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery in York. Mrs. Tallman was born in Spangler, Cambria County, Pa. on August 9, 1932, a daughter of the late Linus S. and Loretta P. (Sheppard) Yerger. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in York and formerly a member of Shiloh Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Tallman leaves three sons, Michael J. Tallman and his wife Jeanie of Houston, Texas, Perry E. Tallman and his wife Becky of York, and Thomas N. Tallman of Lancaster; five grandchildren, Christopher and Mary Tallman of Houston, Texas, and Matthew, Brett, and Katie Tallman of York; a sister, Marlene Stotsky of Indiana, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Bernadine Bakajza.
