Gertrude Elizabeth Zimmerman
ASHLAND Funeral services for Gertrude Elizabeth Zimmerman, 74, of Avon Park, and formerly of Ashland will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Heyl Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert Millsbaugh. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs.Zimmerman died Sunday afternoon at Bartow Nursing Home in Bartow, after a long illness. She was born May 8, 1917, in Fredericktown to Fred and Melva Wells Bradrick. She was owner and operator of Tropical Motel in Frostproof, from 1962 to 1969 and was former owner and operator of Zimmie's Restaurant in Ashland. Survivors include a son, Don Zimmerman of Avon Park, a stepson, James Zimmerman of Cleveland; a stepdaughter, Rilla Lord of Marion; a grandson; 14 step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren. On Jan 31, 1948, she married Earl Zimmerman, who preceded her in death April 11, 1973.
