In 1920 he is listed as a coal dealer (60, OH) with his wife and son, plus two lodgers. Son Clarence (31, OH) is listed as a stage electrician.
Still living in Ft Wayne in 1930, when he is a retail merchant at age 70. Their son Clarence is living with them in addition to a lodger.

DIES IN INDIANA W. M. Wells, 80, To Be Buried In Frederlcktown Friday.
FREDERICKTOWN W. M, Wells, 80, a former resident of this place, died at his home in Ft Wayne, Ind., Wednesday after a lingering illness. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Hattie Lyons Wells; a son, Clarence, of Ft Wayne; and a brother, David of Frederlcktown. The body will be returned here and services will be held at 3 p. m. Friday at the Meredith Funeral home, with Rev. L. A. Ensley officiating. Burial will be made in Forest cemetery.
