DIVORCE CASE - Mansfield News - 19 Sep 1912, pg 5
Lillie Grubb, by her attorney, T. R. Robison, has begun a suit in probate court against Dora E. Grubb for divorce. The parties were married at Scottsbluff, IA(?) on Sept 11, 1904. No children have been born of the marriage.
The plaintiff alleges that the defendant has been guilty of gross neglect of duty towards this plaintiff in this to-wit: During the last year he has not provided her with sufficient food and clothing, and especially during the past six months he has wholly failed and neglected to provide her with any of the necessities of life, so that she has been compelled to live by her own exertions and upon the charity of relatives and friends although defendant was fully able to provide for plaintiff.
It is alleged that the defendant’s conduct was such that their home was broken up and this plaintiffs peace of mind was wholly destroyed, and she has suffered to a large extent both mentally and physically. Wherefore the plaintiff prays that she may be divorced from the defendant and for such other relief as is proper.
The newspaper printed on 20 Nov 1912 that the divorce decree was granted.
His (3rd) marriage was to Iva Wells on 7 Dec 1912 in Detroit. After his marriage to Iva in Detroit, the Mansfield newspaper reported on 5 Jun 1913 that Dora Grubb, Dr. G. E. Sheets, and James McCready went to Detroit, MI on Tuesday. They were also divorced.
Dora then married (4th) Edith M. Houseman on 28 Sep 1918 in Richland Co, OH.
Dora was listed as a furnace salesman (40, OH) in 1920, while living in Lake Co, OH with wife Edith (27, OH) and son James L. Grubb (6mo, OH).
In 1922, the newspaper reported that Mr. and Mrs. Dora Grubb of Cleveland and their son, were in Butler for the Grubb family reunion; and again that they were in town in 1926.
They were in the same place in 1930, with Dora working as a janitor (50, OH) and it says he was first married at age 38. His wife, Edith (38, OH) was first married at 26 and both her parents were born in Germany. They now had sons James L. (10) and Robert (5).
By 1940 he was in the Cleveland State Hospital, where he had been for at least 5 years.

Parents lived near Levering at birth. Passed on a photo of her parents and entire family taken Sept 1907 to Dick (Richard) Wells.
Was married and divorced before Willis Countryman according to Lelia and Bernice, apparently to Dora E. Grubb in Detroit in 1912. The marriage records in Knox Co Probate list her as Iva Mae Grubb (divorced) of Morrow Co when she married Willis in 1918.
From bi-weekly paper in Butler Oct 16, 1918: "Solemnized in Mt. Vernon at 3 PM the wedding of Miss Iva Mae Wells of Middlebury Twp and Willis Countryman of Butler. The Rev J. A. Long pronounced the words of the ceremony. The Bride and Groom were unattended. They will make their home in Butler." Her father wrote an earlier will on 28 Aug 1923 which I have a copy of, in addition to the last one written 20 Nov 1928. It lists her as Iva Clingerman, but must have meant Countryman, since he misspelled Bradrick as Braddock also.
Lived in Butler, OH in 1929. Listed with her husband Willis, renting on Wilson Ave in Butler in 1930. She was first married at age 22.
In 1940, they are listed as Willis Countryman (75, OH) a lumber dealer with 3 yrs of college education and Iva (48, OH) who completed the 8th grade, living on Elm St.
Had no children according to Frances Wells. She was widowed when Willis died and did not remarry. She was living in a long term care facility in Richland County at the time of her death.
