1860 census shows him as a farmer (66, PA) with $10,500 of land. Lists him with his son Hugh (30), Mary Hamilton (18) a domestic, James McKune (14) and Martin McKune (13). His will (written 19 Dec 1861, recorded 16 Aug 1866) gave his farm to daughter Elizabeth (married to Joseph Wells), and to her children upon her death, with her son Robert getting an extra share. He gave daughter Margaret (married to James Grimes) the $1,600 she had borrowed. Gave the rest to son, Hugh, who was also named executor.
Mt. Vernon Methodist Cem is located in Jefferson Twp on Cripple Hill Rd on the side of a hill. The land was given by him, and both he and (dau) Elizabeth are buried there.
