Will probated 27 April 1860 and reads as follows:
I, Charles Stuckslager of Jefferson Township, Fayette County, in the state of Pennsylvania, being of an advanced age but of sound mind and memory, understanding and considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof, do make and establish this to be my last will and testament. First, I will my soul to God who gave it, and my body to the earth to be buried in a Christian manner. At the discretion of my executor of such worldly goods as I am blest with, I dispose of in manner following.
After my just debts and funeral expenses are paid I will that the farm that I now live upon shall after my decease, be appraised by six good and industrious men to be selected by my executor and my son Charles shall have the right to take it at such assessment by paying to my executor the amount of such appraisement as follows; one third of such appraisement in one year after my decease, one third in two years after my decease, and the residue of the same at the decease of my wife Susan, the whole to bear six percent interest. The interest on the last payment he must pay to my executor annually. I bequeath to my beloved wife Susan in lieu of her dower as follows; I will that she shall take for her own use during her natural life as such of my household goods as she stand in need of, and if my son if he take the farm at the appraisement, she shall have the room that we now occupy in the house, as reserved in an article between me and my son, Charles. I will that my executor shall pay to my wife Susan the interest that he reserves as above mentioned. On the last payment annually for her support and maintenance or as much of it as she may require and if she should be afflicted so that the interest would not be sufficient to support her comfortable then I direct that my executor shall use so much of the principal of the last payment as shall support her, and if my son, Charles should refuse to take the farm at that appraisement then in that case will that it shall be sold by my executor and the conditions to be to the purchase as above except the room reserved for my wife, which in that case shall not be reserved. I will that after my decease all my personal property that is not taken by my wife shall be sold by my executor and all my debts be collected and together with what money I may have on hand after the payment of my debts shall be disposed .of as follows; I will and bequeath to my daughter, Polly Nickels children the sum of three hundred dollars to be divided equally between them. I will to my son Daniel Stuckslager two children one hundred dollars each. I will to my daughter Eliza Lutz children, three hundred dollars to be equally divided between them. I will to my daughter Nancy Myers one hundred dollars and to her children, that she now has, two hundred dollars to be equally divided between them. I will to my daughter Susan Shulley, one hundred dollars. The residue of my estate I will, shall be equally divided between my six sons, viz; John, Henry, Charles, Cyrus, Harrison and Johnson share and share alike. After the death of my wife I will that the property that she retains shall be sold and after paying for her funeral expenses, shall be divided between my six sons last named. I will that all the above legasee shall be paid in proportion as the money becomes due. Lastly I constitute and appoint Joseph Wolf of Jefferson Township to be executor of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills I may have made in earlier times. Whereof I hereby set my hand and seal this 7th day of April AD 1860.
