1850 Barton census shows a Mahala Hubbell (age 22, b. NY) in a boarding house. Death Cert of her daughter lists her maiden name with place of birth as Penn. The appointment book/diary of Rev. King shows that he conducted the funeral for Mrs. George Wiggins in Owego on 9 Jan 1857. His book was filed with the Tioga County Clerk on 25 Oct 1922.
Recieved references to Mahala (1832-1857) in Tioga Co records from Jean Dodge - listed as George's wife, b. NJ and buried Evergreen Cem, Owego. The Evergreen Cemetery records show that Mahala A. Wiggins died on 8 Jan 1857 at 24 yrs 1 mo of age and is buried there.

One record lists him as having been born in Hancock, PA. George Wiggins, farmer - age 24, with his parents Henry & Unis in the 1850 census for Nichols, Tioga Co, NY. He subsequently married Mahala Hubbell and had a daughter, Gertrude in 1855. Mahala died in 1857, and was buried in Evergreen Cem by Rev. King.
George was remarried to Lucy Ann Leasure 0n 28 July, 1857 according to Nichols Vital Records and Rev. King's Church records. In 1860 he is listed as G. F. Wiggins, a carpenter age 34, with $100 of personal property, with wife Lucy Ann (23), dau Gertrude (5), and son Ralph (3 mo). In 1865 he is listed (39) b. PA as a carpenter, married twice and as having only 1 child. His wife Lucy is listed as having 4 children (living?) They were Emma J. (7), Charley J. (5), Celete? (son,3yr-2mo), Cloid (1yr-1mo).
1870 census lists him as George F. Wiggins, age 44 born in PA, a carpenter with $1,000 of land, $300 property with his (2nd wife) Lucy and 6 children. 1875 census lists him as a Carpenter, age 49 born in Germany with wife Lucy and 8 children all born in Tioga Co. 1880 census lists him with Lucy and 8 children.
In 1892, the family is listed in Nichols, consisting of George F. Wiggins (66) a carpenter, wife Lucy A. (53), George Jr (23) carpenter, LaRue (26) a farmer, and Nettie (18) a teacher.
1900 census lists him and Lucy Ann next to the family of his son, George. It says his parents were both born in PA and hers in New Jersey & Conn. She was the mother of 10 children, 7 of whom were living at the time. 1910 census lists him as age 84, 52 yrs for his second marriage, along with his wife Lucy A. and granddaughter Viola C. (13). It also says that they had 10 children by the second marriage and only 6 were living at the time.
Sutfin Funeral records (searched by Julia Chaffee of Tioga Co) lists his death in Windham, PA on 31 Mar 1915 at age 88 yrs, 11 mos, 20 days (which conflicts with date from his daughter-indicates 11 April). It says he was a farmer, died of old age, and was the son of Henry and Unis Wiggins (both b. PA). He is buried in the Nichols Cemetery, along with his 2nd wife (listed as Anna L. on headstone) and his son George F. Wiggins, Jr. and wife.
