Henry was the son of Henry L. Aiken and Emily L. Robins. Henry married Mary Grice on 01 Dec 1886 in Perry, Dallas, Iowa. They were the parents of 4 children: Rodney, Beulah, Lester, and a child who died in infancy.

Henry Aiken passed away at the St. Anthony hospital Sunday afternoon, December 19, after an illness extending over a long period. He entered the St. Anthony hospital for an incurable trouble shortly after the death of Mrs. Aiken, July 9, of this year.
Mr. Aiken was born in East Townsend, Vt, April 17, 1847. His ancestors were from Scotland and Ireland, his own grandfather being one of the original settlers of Derry county, Vt. When Mr. Aiken was but a small boy, he, with his parents moved to Saratoga Springs, N.Y. He remained here for a number of years, completing his education in Saratoga and teaching school there. His first trip to Iowa was in 1878, but he soon returned to New York. He returned to Iowa, however, and settled at Perry, coming from Perry to Carroll, where he has since resided, his home being just t the north edge of the city.
In December 1885, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Melissa Grice. Four children were born to this union, one having died in infancy. The three living are: Rodney Henry of Lohrville; Beulah of Carroll, and Lester Floyd, of Dallas, Tex.
Mr. Aiken was a well known and respected citizen of this county and with his passing one of the old settlers has gone. During the months of his illness he has greatly enjoyed the companionship of his daughter, who devoted her entire time to his care and comfort. Funeral services were held at the Earl Delaplane home Tuesday afternoon, Rev. W.H. Parker officiating. A quartet composed of Miss Vivian Kivits, Miss Mary Parker and W.H. Otto and Rev. W.H. Parker, accompanied by Mrs. Carson Summers at the piano, sang several sacred songs. The pallbearers were F.A. Myers, J.B. Mohler, Ross Rich, W.T. Ross, Homer Stratemeyer, and George Maze.

July 15, 1926 - Carroll Times - Mrs. Henry Aiken passed away at the St. Anthony hospital Saturday morning at 10:30 o'clock after an illness of but a few weeks. An attack of flu in the early spring together with a goiter, which became evident in May of this year were responsible for her death. She was taken to the St. Anthony hospital a little better than two weeks before her death, where she was striving to gain in strength to undergo an operation. During her entire illness she had strong hopes of recovery and did not realize the seriousness of her condition.
Mrs. Aiken, as Melissa Grice, was born in Fredericktown, O., December 13, 1857. From Ohio the family moved to Adel, IA, which was her home until her marriage to Henry Aiken in 18S5. Three years after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Aiken came to Carroll county, locating at the edge of town.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Aiken is survived by three children; Beulah, at home; Rodney, who is farming near Lohrville, and Lester, who is attending the University of Minnesota. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. George Havill of Perry, IA.
Mrs. Aiken was of a family of five children, Mrs. Havill being the last survivor of the family. Early in their married life Mr. and Mrr. Aiken united with the Presbyterian church in which faith she died. Her devotion to Christian life was inherent and dated back to the Iker family of devout Dunkards, of which she was a direct descendant.
Mrs. Aiken was of a quiet nature but enjoyed the companionship of her family and her friends to the utmost. She was a refined, kindly woman with the interest of her family always at heart. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. W.H. Parker officiating. A quartette composed of Miss Aimee Hodge, Mrs. C.C. Colclo, J.B. Gillett and Rev. Parker sang several beautiful hymns. Burial was made in the Carroll cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. George Havill of Perry attended the funeral and were with Mrs. Aiken for several days before her death.
