Listed with his parents in 1860 OH census, and with his mother and sister in 1880 NE census.
He is listed as a Steward at the Ohio state penitentiary in 1900, married 19 yrs, as well as with his family which lists him as working in a dry goods store, with wife Nellie Cozzens (15 Feb 1859, OH) son Charles C. (Aug 1882, OH) and daughter Margaret G. (Apr 1885, OH).
The family is listed in Columbus in 1910, and even have a servant living with them. Charles is now a shoe merchant.
By 1920 the children have moved out, Charles (62, IA) is running a grocery store, and his widowed sister-in-law Myrtle Cozzens (53, OH) is living with them. A few months later Nellie died on 30 Jun 1920, and was buried in Green Lawn Cemetery.
By 1930 Charles was retired, remarried to Myrtle (Brown) Cozzens (Jan. 29, 1866 - Feb. 6, 1943) and living in their home in Florida; where they were still listed in 1940.
Charles was visiting Hendersonville, NC later that year, when he went to the hospital with bronchial pneumonia where he died. He was returned to Columbus, OH to be buried, and Myrtle was buried with him a few years later.
