Great grandfather William Elliott came to Jefferson Twp, Fayette Co in the 1700's and settled on his patented land called the "Old Elliott Homestead". His wife was Ruth Crawford, and they had eleven children.
Grandfather - James Elliot was the only son to grow to manhood. He was born 25 April 1785, Washington Twp, Fayette Co; married 3 June 1813 to Mary Cunningham.
(their son) Joseph S. Elliott, was born 18 April 1827 Washington Twp, Fayette Co. He died 27 April 1910, Fayette Co and is buried in Redstone Cemetery, Brownsville, PA. He married Nancy Jane Forsyth (b. 3 Nov 1834) on 7 Oct 1852. She died 10 May 1903, and is also buried in Redstone Cemetery, Brownsville, PA.
Their oldest son was William Forsyth Elliott.

Anna's family lived across the street from Griffith Wells. When she was a child they asked the Wells to raise her as they would a daughter. She is listed with the family in the 1870 census, but by 1880 she had married William F. Elliot and was listed as Laura with him and their 1 yr old son Joseph, still in Fayette Co.
Children: Joseph G. (1979), Roy W./Lloyd (Sep 1881 PA - Sep 1986 PA), Nesley M. (Sept 1883, PA), Margaret Estella (Sept 1888, PA), Eva M. (Mar 1894, PA - Nov 1985, NC)
She is listed in 1910 as a widow with her children Roy, Stella and Eva.
In 1920 she is listed as Laura Elliot a widowed mother-in-law (61, PA) with the family of her daughter Eva and husband Arley Kissinger. Eva subsequently got a "Mexican divorce" and married Dr. Alexander White Spears.
Listed as Laura Elliot (72, PA) in 1930, a widowed mother-in-law, with the family of J. Herbert Garner (25, IN) minister of the 1st Pres Church, and her daughter Margaret (27, PA) who had been married 4 yrs with no children.

MRS. ANNA L. ELLIOTT
Mrs. Anna Laura Elliott, widow of William F Elliott who passed away 36 years ago, died at 1:40 o’clock Monday afternoon at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. A. W. Spears, at Grindstone, after a year’s illness.
A daughter of the late George Burroughs and Amanda Rose Cook, she was a charter member of Colonel Andrew Lynn Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is survived by the following children: Joseph G., Darby, Pa.; Lloyd W., Jefferson township; Nesley M, Brownsville, and Mrs. J. R. Brown and Mrs. Spears, Grindstone. There are also 12 grandchildren, one great grandchild and one sister, Mrs. Rebecca Garrett of Pittsburgh.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon at the Spears home in charge of Rev. E. J. Knepshield, pastor of the Little Redstone Church. Interment will be in Redstone Cemetery at Brownsville.
