He was named after his two uncles who died following the 1906 earthquake. He was adopted by his Aunt and Uncle, and living with them in 1930 as Lloyd Henning.
He is listed as a steelworker in the 1938 Oakland city directory with wife Jean.

He listed his mother as a contact when he registered for the WWII draft in 1940.
He enlisted in the Army Corps of Engineers at Ft Lewis, WA on 28 Jan 1946 as a Sergeant for the Hawaiian Dept. He was from California, married with 2 yrs of college, and worked as a foreman in construction.
Retired from the Army in 1953 after the Korean War. He then worked for the Harbor Dept in San Francisco for 22 years (under his Uncle Harold) and retired as Captain of a Tow Boat. He last worked in SF for some company who decides on SSI (disability) benefits. His one daughter died in a car accident, his 9 step-children have many grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
He had a 5-way heart bypass several years before his death. Died quietly in a chair in his living room.

Opal Wilma Gay Kistner age 82, passed away Monday, June 20, 2005 in Paradise, CA. She was born on October 23, 1922, in Loveland, Colorado to LeRoy and Alice Gay. She was a strong woman who always let you know how she felt. She loved to sing and loved music. She was a caring person who had an open door policy for anyone who needed help or a place to stay. She was able to maintain a close relationship with all of her children and was very proud of all of their accomplishments. She loved fine food, aged scotch, and a good joke. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was blessed with two wonderful husbands, both of whom she loved dearly. All who were blessed to know her will miss her. She is survived by her son, Bill Kistner of Brentwood, CA daughter Carol Poppleton of Paradise, daughter Jeanette Douglass of Tujunga, CA, son, Gary Kistner of Creedmoor, TX, sister Mary Keating of Baytown, TX, 10 Grandchildren, and 15 Great-Grandchildren. Arrangements were handled by Newton Bracewell Cremation and Funeral Service of Magalia.
