H. P. Stanton was the owner of the first blacksmith shop in Shehawken. The early settlers thought of him not only as a blacksmith but also as a cabinet maker, a mason, a carpenter, a cobbler and a butcher. Henry organized the Methodist Episcopal Class in 1855 and was Class Leader of which Emmeline was a member.
His name looks like Heny D. Stanton (33) in 1860 census, with his wife Emmaline. Listed next to the Tallmans as a farmer with $5,000 land, $1,000 prop with his wife and 3 children.
He bought property of Elihu Tallman in Scott township and ran the mill there.
In 1870 he is listed as a farmer (43, PA) with his wife Emaline (43) and children Elma (14) and Clara (12).
In 1880 he is listed as H. P. Stanton (53, PA) a farmer, with his wife, daughter Ettie (9) and daughter Elma (24) with her husband and son. H. P. Stanton in 1883 supervised the building of the Shehawken M. E. Church which cost $1650.

From the Diary of Stella Campbell 1890-1891 -
15 July 1890, Tuesday: Lizzy Dix and I went to see Etta Stanton tonight. Her mother, Emeline Stanton is very bad in her mind and she uses Etta awfully bad. She is going home to Mt. Vision tomorrow. She says she has stood it as long as she can. Emeline just about talked us to death.
6 Aug 1890, Wednesday: Frank and Clara Kilpatrick and Dr. Miles took Emeline Stanton to Danville Insane Asylum today.
