Misc. Notes
He had 2 sisters, but came to US by himself around age 9 from Italy (cause unknown) to New York and ended up living his childhood with a family in Cloverdale, CA.
His Draft Registration for WWI in June 1917 lists his birth date as 21 Dec 1888, and occupation as a self employed charcoal maker in Pine Mountain, Mendocino Co, CA.
He served in the Army in WWI, but was drafted late in the war. After training in Ft. Lewis, WA he was sent back to the Presidio in San Francisco for shipping out to France. The war ended before he left and he was discharged from the Presidio after being granted his Citizenship on 9 Oct 1918 in Tacoma, WA. He got his Passport issued the following year on 6 Jun 1919.
He went back to Italy as a young man and was introduced to his future wife, per the arranged marriage between the families. They fell in love and were married after a couple months. After a couple years in Italy, he took his wife, daughter (Anne) and son (Enzo) and returned to America in 1928 on the Conte Biancamano.
Upon arriving at Ellis Island, Anne was sick and was held there a week while they waited for her to get well. They then got on the train and rode all the way across the country to San Francisco.
One record (family history?) lists his death as 18 Apr 1946 in San Francisco, but the California Death Index lists it as 25 Mar in Alameda Co, and has been used.
He died of cancer.
