Misc. Notes
In 1860, the Fayette County Orphans Court assigned Stephen R. Nutt as Guardian for her children under the age of 14, apparently at her request:
Appointment of Guardian No.4, on 4 March 1860 -
Sons Lewis and James K. Polk McCuen, and daughters Harriet & Elizabeth Ann McCuen, children of James OVER 14 yrs old
Appointment of Guardian No.5, on 5 March 1860 -
Martin McCuen and Roxelenia McCuen, children of James UNDER 14 yrs old
Hannah is listed with her (2nd) husband Benjamin Sease (55, PA) in 1860 census as Hannah (32, PA) with children Jonas (11), Isaac (6), Roxsalena (4), and Jane (2). So it appears that Roxie had not yet gone to live with Stephen Nutt. Harriet is the only “McKune” child listed with the Nutt family in the July census that year.
In 1870 she is listed as Hannah Seese (39, PA) head of household and keeping house, with sons Thomas (8, PA) and Leroy (2, PA). This seems to indicate that Benjamin had died shortly before this.
