THROWN FROM HIS TEAM
Mr. Thomas Hamel Instantly Killed Yesterday. Yesterday afternoon. Just when the shower came up, Mr. Thomas Hamel, the well known teamster, was driving his pair of spirited horses when the animals became frightened at a flash of lightning and ran. In turning the corner of Avon street into Cumberland street the wheels of the team struck the curb stone and Mr. Hamel was thrown out, and, striking on his temple on the sidewalk, was instantly killed. Coroner Gould considered an inquest unnecessary.
Mr. Hamel has for many years been a driver for the street department, and has been a faithful, efficient man. He was also a member of the fire department for several years, being attached to Machigonne Engine Ho. 1. He leaves a wife and four children. One son George, formerly foreman of the Sunday Telegram, died only a few weeks ago.
