Misc. Notes
Married Robert Hagan and they were living in New Castle, Delaware in 1801 when they were admitted to the Wilmington (Quaker) Monthly Meeting. It lists their children as George, Elizabeth and Robert. They presented a letter from Rich Hill, Ireland dated 19 Feb 1800.
Lived on the North (Hudson) River at Lansenborough City in NY (in 1827) on a good farm. Widowed in 1835, lived in DeRuyter, NY and Ohio. In particular she lived with her brother John in NY from 1842 thru 1844 and in Ohio with Henry and Mary Gaddis most of the year in 1845. Her health was better in Ohio.
By 1850 she was back living with John on his farm in NY again. Jane was a marvel to her older brother John. She lived well on the income from money she inherited when her husband died and made more than one trip by herself to New York City from DeRuyter via the Erie Canal and Hudson River. Still listed with her brother John in NY in 1860, at age 77, with $800 of personal property.
Jane went back to Ohio, presumably following John’s death, and is listed in 1870 in Belmont County as an invalid at age 86 with the farm family of her nephew Henry and Ruth Kinney and their two grown daughters. Henry being the youngest son of Thomas and Margaret (Carr) Kinney.
