Enlisted into the Continental army at age of about 15, and served during the remainder of the war. Married in Milford, soon after removed to New Haven, CT. Carried on the pottery (earthern ware) business for a number of years. Removed from New Haven to Burlington, NY in 1801. In 1812 they removed to Mayville, Chautauqua County, N.Y. and the next year in Jamestown, in the the town of Ellicott, in the same county. He was also a pensioner. 1817 removed to the foot of Chautauqua Lake, about 4 miles from Jamestown, now called Fluvanna, where he died. Upon his death his son, William H. Fenton, continued the business.
