NameMary Webber Gary
Death13 Apr 1832
BurialDorset, Bennington Co, VT
Misc. Notes
Known in Dorset, VT as "Widow Fenton".
From Larry LoPresti (22 May ‘98):
“My brother found Mary Fenton's grave in a small unmarked cemetary in Dorset. Her gravestone reads Mary Fenton died April 13th 1832 aged 99 years. She is buried next to Richard L. Fenton 1798- July 1834 aged 36 and George Fenton son of R.L. and M. Fenton died 10/19/1833 aged 13 years old.
There are no other Fentons in that graveyard or the bigger old graveyard in town although he did find Capt. Shumway's grave. He was Jonathan's commander in the Revolutionary War so it seems the Conn. 7th might well have been given land up in Vermont after the war and at least some took some advantage of it.”

Birth17 May 1741, Mansfield, Tolland Co, CT
Deathbef 1832, Connecticut
Misc. Notes
Enlisted in the war of the Revolution in Captain John Shumway's company, Apr 3, 1779 for 2 years. Lived in Mansfield at the time (1779), but no account of his descendants in that town, perhaps he removed.
Info from Larry LoPresti says he died after 1790 in Bennington, Vt. Also that Capt. Shumway's grave was found in Dorset, VT as was Jonathan’s wife, Mary. Since he was Jonathan's commander in the Revolutionary War, it seems the Conn. 7th might well have been given land up in Vermont after the war and at least some took some advantage of it.
