Served in Revolutionary war, in First Regiment, for a time. Lived in northeasterly part of town of Mansfield, about half mile south of the old Methodist meeting-house. Probably most ingenious mechanic ever born in Mansfield. He made surgical instruments of a superior kind, electric machines unaided by science, made a telescope, spy-glass and microscope.
