Brother of Dr. Ezekiel Skinner, who married Benjamin’s sister-in-law. Died at sea from the effects of African fever, returning home from a mission with wife. And it was their father Ezekiel Skinner (of Benjamin Rush Skinner and EED Skinner), who at the age of about 55 went to Liberia to complete his son's time as a missionary.

Eliza, with her husband, went on a missionary trip to Liberia, where she died of African fever. Elizabeth Read died in Liberia with her children, and that is where she was buried. The stone at the Snow Cemetery is simply a headstone. Her husband died on the way back home and he was buried at sea. His headstone is at the Knowlton Cemetery.
