Lee Burns, 51, Dies at Home - Funeral Services Will Be Held at 9 o'Clock Wednesday
Lee J. Burnes, 51, died at 10:40 o'clock Sunday evening at his home at 831 Clark street death resulted from a heart attack. Born February 13 1889, in Tama county, Mr. Burns came to Iowa City 13 years ago as an automobile salesman. His marriage to Eva M. Wells took place in 1930.
Surviving are his widow; his father, P.J. Burns of Minneapolis, Minn.; three sisters, Mrs. E. E. Bennett of Minneapolis, Mrs. H.S. Batters of Rockford, Ill., and Miss Lillian Burns of Cedar Rapids, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Burns served overseas during the World War and received honorable discharge. He was a member of the American Legion and of St. Patrick's church.
Funeral services are planed for 9 o'clock Wednesday morning at St. Patrick's with the Rev. P.J. O'Reilly in charge. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery. The remains are at Beckman's.

Eva M. burns, 92, formerly of 831 south Clark street, died Monday at a local nursing home, following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services are set for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Beckman-Butherus Funeral Home, the Rev. C. Dendy Garrett officiating. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery. Visitation will begin at the funeral home at 4 p.m. today.
Born Jan. 4, 1882 in West Liberty (sic), she was the daughter of Jacob and Mattie Swartz Wells. She moved to Iowa City as a child, attended public schools here, and was married to Lee Burns. She was employed for a number of years as a bookkeeper and cashier at several Iowa City firms. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Royal Neighbors and the Daughters of the American Revolution. A niece and three nephews survive. Her husband and a brother died earlier.
