Robert D. Price, 76, of 1307 E. College St., died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at his home after a long illness. Services will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to Amenity Hospice of Cedar Rapids. The Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Price was born Feb. 20, 1926, in Quasqueton, to John and Eva (Sullivan) Price. He married Mardine C. Wells on Aug. 19, 1946, in Iowa City. He worked for Economy Advertising for several years and later was employed at the University of Iowa in maintenance. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Dean and his wife, Rita, of Davenport, Doug and his wife, Karen, of Iowa City, Steve and his wife, Julie, of Homestead and Roger and his wife, Cheri, of Monticello; two sisters, Hazel Calhoun of Waterloo and Lillian Solbrig of Cedar Rapids; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

On 25 January 1939, she was listed in the Iowa City Citizen Press as one of 33 students at Henry Sabin school who were eligible for promotion to Junior High upon completion of final exams.

Mardine Charlotte Price, 96, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2023 at Highland Ridge in Williamsburg, IA.
A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Iowa City.
Mardine was born to Wilbur and Edith (Lonn) Wells on June 27, 1926 in Iowa City. She spent her entire life in Iowa City, graduating from Iowa City High School in 1946 and marrying Robert D. Price on August 19, 1947. To this union, four children were born: Dean, Douglas, Steven and Roger. In addition to raising a family, Mardine was employed as a secretary at Penn Elementary School for 16 years. She retired in 1988.
In her spare time she enoyed various needlework projects including: sewing, quilting and knitting. She also enjoyed watching sports, particularly Dallas Cowboy’s football and NASCAR racing. Mardine was always excited to contribute to her community, specifically as a volunteer at Mercy Hospital (she logged over 1,000 hours!) and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Mardine is survived by her sons: Douglas (Karen) Price of Iowa City, Steven (Julie) Price of Homestead, and Roger (Cher) Price of Ainsworth; 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren as well as numerous extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; her brothers: Andrew, Eldwin and Gordon Wells; her son, Dean and one great grandchild.
