Rev. George Washington Paddock was the son of William and Deborah (Fenton) Paddock. He was the husband of Sophrona Margaret (Sheldon) Paddock. He was a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church: East Genesee Conference 1852 F 1854 Kansas Conference by transfer 1857 East Genesee Conference by transfer 1867 Genesee (now Western New York) Conference by change of boundaries 1872. He served as President of Baker University for three years, 7 years as trustee, 5 of those years as president of the board. This university was founded in 1858 and as of 2009 it is the oldest university in Kansas and is still affiliated with the United Methodist Church.
