Misc. Notes
She is the daughter of John Harding and Sarah Winter according to her (3)marriage record to Charles Fenton.
She immigrated from England on the ship Colorado of the Wilson Line and arrived in the port of New York on 13 Jan 1869 as Ellen Harding at the age of 35.
She is listed (47, England) with husband (2)Joseph Simpson in Brooklyn in 1880, with no children.
She and Charles are listed in Hempstead, Nassau Co, NY in the 1900 census without any children. She is listed as having 1 child (previous marr?) and being born in England. She immigrated in 1840 and had spent 50 yrs living in the U.S. Some of this is obviously in error as the age and date of birth do not agree, nor does immigration dates and time, or years married!
Subsequent to the death of her husband, Charles Fenton, she filed for his Widow’s Pension on 18 May 1907, while living in Hempstead, Nassau Co, NY.
She is listed as a widow (75, England) in 1910, living with her son-in-law and his family, where is says her one child is living; indicating that Ella F. Patten (59, PA) is her daughter. It also says she immigrated to the U.S. in 1869.
In the 1915 New York state census, she is listed in Queens, as the grandmother (81, ENG) of Frederick W. Patten (65) and his wife Ella F. (60) and daughter Mildred (12). This records shows her as being in the US for 75 yrs.
