Harold O. Fenton July 6, 1906 - June 8, 1998
Harold Oscar Fenton, 91, passed away quietly and peacefully at Franciscan Hospice on June 8, 1998. He was born, raised and resided in South Tacoma his entire life. A 1926 graduate of Lincoln High School, he married Luetta Huffman in 1928 and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary before her death in 1994.
Harold spent most of his life working as a glazier, but also built many houses in the Tacoma area. His family resided in five different houses on the block of 70th and Puget Sound Street in the 40's and 50's all built by Harold. He culminated his building career by construction many rental houses in South Tacoma.
He thought South Tacoma was the center of the known universe and was always proud of his and his family's history there. He demonstrated his love through hard work and responsibility to his family and was generous with his wife, children, grandchildren, and his nieces and nephews in the Ladenburg family. In retirement he enjoyed building and selling desks . He loved his pets. He enjoyed cooking especially clam chowder and the Thanksgiving turkey.
He is survived by two sons, Jerry Fenton and wife Marilyn, Federal Way, WA and Donald Fenton and wife Gloria Fenton Sautto of San Miguel Allende, Mexico. A third son, Richard Fenton, preceded him in death in 1989. He also leaves seven grandchildren, Camie Fenton Sands, Barry, Brent, Craig, Jamie and Michael Fenton, and Becky Fenton Mchoney, along with four great-grandchildren. A family graveside memorial was held at Mountain View Memorial Park on Wednesday, June 10, where Harold was interred beside his beloved wife Luetta.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Frank Senecal for his sincere empathy and special care for Harold over the past several years.
