Per Mayflower records and MEET THE TISDALES by Rosa Tisdale "Both John Tisdale, Sr. and John Rogers bequeathed land to him in their wills. Of his father's estate, John as the only son received a double portion. He was a yeoman and during his life accumlulated lands enough to leave each of his children a considerable estate. (more land info in above copy of book) John's name is on a petition dated 12 Jul 1698 to build a bridge over the Great Taunton River. In 1710 he gave one acre toward establishing a church in Norton, part of the North Purchase. He contributed to the fund for the expedition to Canada in 1689 during King William's War. His name is listed on the roster of the First Military Company of Taunton for 1700 and 1710. An impress warrant was served on John 26 Jun 1711 for service in an intended expedition to Canada. ...John and his family lived in Taunton in the vicinity of the Weir...He was Burialed in the Neck O'Land Cemetery.
