Murl Hinton White was the first of four children of Carl White and Mabel Hinton. He attended the Milton Borough School. He attended high school at St. Albans High School, graduating in 1933. He worked on the family farm after graduation, as well as working for the town highway department. During World War II he worked for Pratt Whitney in Connecticut as an aircraft engine inspector. He returned to the farm after the war and farmed until his retirement without a vacation or day off. In 1962 he purchased a second farm in St. Albans town. During his years of residency in Georgia he was active in town affairs, serving as overseer of the poor, constable, and delinquent tax collector.
