Samuel, a sawyer, was a son of Nathan and Miinerva (Hill) Cook and came to Chateaugay, NY, with them in 1841. He married, in circa 1860, Martha Sloan and they had son James W. Cook and daughter Betsy (Boyd). They also had a son Charles who died December 17, 1864; and they had a daughter, Mandana, who died on August 21, 1861.
