She was married 18 Oct 1876 to Dr. Peter M. Bennet (5 Sep 1856 Lierning Co, PA - 28 Oct 1912 Detroit, MI) at Grant Blanc, Genesee Co, MI - all other references are spelled Bennett. Peter had been previously listed in Lafayette, Bremer Co, IA in 1870.
In 1880 she is listed as Emma L. (22, MI) with their daugher Flora M.(2, MI), and he is indexed as Walter, but appears to have a similar name starting with “M”.
They are listed in the 1900 Detroit census, with daughter Flora M. (Apr 1878, MI) and Emma’s widowed father Justin (Feb 1815, NY).
Emma is referred to as "Mrs. Barnette" on her father’s 1905 Death Certificate.
After Peter’s death, she remarried George H. Dunham (29 Apr 1871-4 Feb 1950) on 20 May 1916 in Genesee Co, MI.
They are listed in Grand Rapids in 1920, George (48, MI) and Emma (64, MI); then in Flint in 1930 George (56) and Emma (64), and finally there in 1940 with George (68) and Emma (80)
