She was first married to (Henry ) Clay Adkins, as her marriage to Otis was her second. Jennie and her mother, Nancy, ran a boarding house and restaurant in Hot Springs in the 1880s-1890s. Jennie's children were: Dottie Adkins, Birdy Adkins, Sidney Adkins, and Clay “Cass” Adkins from her first marriage, and Ernest Armstrong, Mable Armstrong, Jennie Armstrong, and Wyman Otis Armstrong from her second.
In 1900, 6 of her 7 children were living, which may indicate that she had a 5th child with Clay before his death.
In 1910, 8 of her 9 children were living.
1920 census appears to list her race as (American) Indian, as well as that of her children. Her son, Cass from the first marriage, and his family was living with them.
