John married Magdalena ILGES. Records of Stehli's Church mention John and Magdalena from 1801 to 1809. However, we find a mention of Maria Magdalena ILGES as sponsor at a baptism 17 May 1792.
John Jr. and Magdalena had at least eight children: Johann George b. 1801, Rebecca b. 1803, Sarah Salome 1804-1870 marr Adam Howard, Susanna b. 1806, Joseph b. 1807, John b. 1811, Jacob b. 1815 marr Susanna Harmon, and Catherine b. 1817.
They moved into Westmoreland County, PA where John purchased land in 1814. He was apparently a successful farmer as in the 1850 census his worth was listed as $2,300, quite a sum in that day. His farm was along the road from Donegal to Stahlstown. He doubtless donated the land for the cemetery that bears his name in that area.
Magdalena died 23 December 1854 and is buried in the Porch Cemetery. John soon married a second wife, Sarah. John died 28 May 1858 and Sarah followed in 1870. Both are buried in the Porch cemetery, Westmoreland County, PA.
