He married Mary Eliza Lawrence b. 1847 WI, d. 1940 and graduated from West Point in 1889.
They had three children Edward Fenton (1868), Lucy K. (1873) who married Evarard Hatch, and Thomas Lawrence McGlachlin (1876).
His son, Edward Fenton McGlachlin was a graduate from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1889 and held the position of quartermaster of the Fifth United States Artillery with the rank of captain. He ended his career as a Major General and was from the town of Sharon, Wisc. He owned and operated The Stevens Point Journal in Wisconsin.
Their graves are at Forest Cemetery in Portage Co, Wisconsin.
