He was a businessman, ship owner, trader and town selectman. He and his wife were Friends members. He did serve a time in the Rev. War according to an SAR application. Children were: Seth, Lydia, William, Elkanah, Elizabeth "Betsey", Charles, Mary, Timothy, Hannah and Wesson.
