BELLVILLE -- Harland C. Mowry, 75, of 83 Ogle St. died Friday evening, Aug 24, 2001, in the MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital Emergency Room after an apparent heart attack.
He was born Dec. 9, 1925, in Richland County to Harland D. and Cora Hazel Steele Mowry and was a life-long Bellville area resident. He was the owner and operator of Mowry Coil Cleaning and had worked 34 years in the mill room of Mansfield Tire Co. After retirement, he had worked part-time as a guard for Therm-O-Disc. He was a member of the New Life Church of Christ and AMVETS Post #43 of Bellville. Harland enjoyed training and showing work horses, hunting and just spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Nina Farst Mowry; four sons and daughters-in-law, Harland Jr. and Sheila Mowry, Robert C. and Connie Mowry and Gerald V. and Pam Mowry, all of Bellville, and Andrew L. and Sally Mowry of Delaware; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Jerry Black and Nora and Dan Jackson, all of Bellville; a stepson, Gary L. and Patti Walker of Douglasville, Pa.;
15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Kathleen Smith of Lexington.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald M. Mowry, and four brothers, Leonard, Harry, Gerald and Marvin Mowry.
His wife, Nina Marie Farst died the next year (1927-2002).
