Paul G. Sporer, 68, a resident of Moosic, died Friday morning at the Scranton Healthcare Center after a long illness. His wife of 45 years is the former Carol Titton.
Born Jan. 11, 1943, in Scranton, son of Ruth Deininger Sporer, Scranton, and the late Paul J. Sporer, he was a member of Divine Mercy Parish and was a graduate of St. Mary of the Assumption High School. He served for four years with the Army National Guard. Before retirement, Paul was an electrical contractor and a member of IBEW Local 81.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. John Diakiw for the care, kindness and compassion given to Paul and his family during his long illness. We would also like to thank Scranton Healthcare and all of the staff for the care Paul received while he was a resident there and also to express our thanks to VNA Hospice for the care and comfort given to Paul in his final days.
Also surviving are a son, Paul Sporer and wife, Annette, Moscow; two daughters, Lisa Minnichbach and husband, Joseph, Elmhurst; and Renee Sporer, Ludington, Mich.; a brother, Daniel Sporer and wife, Kathy, Haddon Twp., N.J.; nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Carol Warner.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. from the August J. Haas Funeral Home Inc., 202 Pittston Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Joseph's Church, Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis St., Scranton, to be celebrated by the Rev. Francis Pauselli, pastor. Interment, Sacred Hearts Cemetery, Minooka section of Scranton.
