Ruth E. Mulrooney McAndrew, 91, a resident of Clarks Summit Senior Living, died Friday in VNA Hospice at Community Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph A. Mulrooney, and her second husband, Bart T. McAndrew.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Alfred and Anna Weller Sporer, she was a member of Queen of Apostles Parish, Avoca, a graduate of St. Mary of the Assumption High School and a retired employee of Emery Air Freight.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Michael Kondash and staff, the staff of Clarks Summit Senior Living, Mountain View Care Center and VNA Hospice for the care given to Ruth.
Surviving are a son, Joseph Mulrooney and wife, Linda, Roaring Brook Twp.; a daughter, Sally Perechinsky and husband, Andy, Greenfield Twp.; a stepdaughter, Jean Carroll and husband, Michael, Avoca; a stepson, Bart McAndrew and wife, Sandra, Mount Cobb; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Skibinski, Flemington, N.J.; and Joan Winters, Scranton; nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a son, Francis Mulrooney; two brothers, Paul and Alfred Sporer; and a sister, Helen Deininger.
The funeral will be Tuesday with Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Hawthorne Street, Avoca, to be celebrated by the Rev. Philip Sladicka, pastor. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. Friends may call Tuesday, 9 to 10, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice, 301 Delaware St., Olyphant.
