His name is spelled Israel, Isreal, and Isrial and Shroder, Schroder, Shroeder and Schroeder in census, marriage, IGI and his wife’s pension papers. His parents were William Schroeder (ca 1770-1846) of Maryland and Elizabeth Stillinger, daughter of Richard and Eve Stillinger of York, PA.
He was first married to Susan Wagner (1818-1848) on 22 Nov 1835 in Knox Co, OH. They had 4 sons and 3 daughters before her death during childbirth in 1848.
Ezra next married Eleanor “Nellie” McMillen (1810-1885) on 31 May 1849 in Knox Co, OH.
Listed as Israel Schroder (42, PA) a chairmaker in Fredericktown, OH in 1850, with his wife Ellenor (40, PA) and 4 sons, 3 daughters from G. Henry (13) to Israel (1) all born in Ohio.
He is listed in 1860 as Iseral Soder (50, PA) - indexed as Soden, a chairmaker with $800 or real estate and $550 of personal property. Listed with him is his wife Elenore (54, PA) and children Daniel (20), Waity (16), and Charlotte (15) all born in Ohio.
In 1870 he is listed as Israel Shroder (59, PA) a retired farmer with $400 of land and $412 of personal property. With him is his wife, Eleanor age 63 also born in Penn.
Listed as Ezra Shroder in 1880 age 69 b. PA a Retail Grocer, with his wife Eleanor 71 b. PA.
He was then married to Sophia E. Wells, widow of Joseph Wells, on 3 Feb 1882 in Knox Co, OH after Eleanor’s death.

"... Israel Schroeder, was a native of York county, Pennsylvania, and when a young man he left the Keystone state for Ohio, where he met and married Susan Wagner, a sister of Henry Wagner, an enterprising farmer of this community. She was born in Pennsylvania and lived to be thirty-five years of age. After her death Israel wedded Nellie McMillen. He was a chair-maker by trade and carried on that business for a number of years in Fredericktown, but after his second marriage he located on a small farm in Middlebury township. His last days, however, were passed in Richland county, where he died at the age of seventy years. He was a member of the Disciples church and took an active part in church work, doing all in his power to extend the influence of the cause. He voted with the Democracy and his career was one of the highest respectability. In his family were three sons and four daughters, of whom two died in infancy, while four are still living, namely: Waitee (1842-1909), Daniel (1843-1902), Charlotte (1845-1919), and William L. (1846-1918)“
