Lester L. Reid, 50, died at 11:55 a.m. Monday in his home in Welsh Hills Road. He had been ill 18 months and seriously ill four months. A former employee of the Kilgore Munitions plant, he suffered burns in an explosion April 2, 1950. Mr. Reid was also a rubber worker and was employed at the Pharis Rubber Company 26 years. Before locating in the Welsh Hills vicinity, he lived in Union Station Road. The son of the late Meredith and Mary (Moats) Reid, he was born Nov. 15, 1901, in the Welsh Hills vicinity. His widow, Mrs. Frances Ruth Reid, and the following children survive: Mrs. Robert Arick of the home, Mrs. J.W. Peck and Mrs. William Jaynes, both of Newark; also four grandchildren; one brother, Meredith Reid of Columbus, and a sister, Mrs. Delcie Bieberbach of Newark.
The deceased was a member of the Welsh Hills Baptist Church and the Welsh Hills Grange. The body is at the Gutliph and Henderson Funeral Home where the Rev. L.W. Spring will conduct services at 1 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be made in Welsh Hills Cemetery.
