MOUNT VERNON — A. David Colopy, 73, of Yauger Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 25, 1938, in Danville to the late Joseph Levi and Donna Elizabeth (Emerick) Colopy. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, was an Ohio State Highway Patrol auxiliary officer, an agent for Real Estate Showcase, owned Colopy Insurance for 38 years, and was a bus driver for Mount Vernon Schools. He was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church in Mount Vernon, the American Legion Post 650, the Danville Lions Club, and he founded the Danville 200 Club.
He is survived by seven children, Deb (Gary) Payne, Brenda Reddy, Brian (Elsa) Colopy, Joe (Tami) Colopy, Dave (Jean) Colopy, Kirk Colopy and Andrea (Chris) Inverso; his former wife and the mother of his children, Linda Colopy; a former wife of 10 years, Tara L. Sheldon (whom he married 19 Dec 1998); 24 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Faith Ridgway and Nancy Ann Hamm.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph H. Colopy.
A funeral Mass will be held Friday, Jan. 20, at 11 a.m. at the St. Luke Catholic Church in Danville, with the Rev. F. Richard Snoke officiating. Interment will follow in St. Luke Cemetery, with graveside military rites performed by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council. Calling hours are Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church, and until service time on Friday. The Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is handling arrangements.
