Son of Joseph Dorr. Though some researchers say Edward's father Joseph also came to America, there doesn't seem to be a lot of evidence to support that belief; whether Joseph was here or not, Edward was the first Dorr to marry and have children here.
Edward Dorr, born 1648, and first in USA came from the western part of England to Boston about 1670; he married Elizabeth Hawley, who was born in 1656, and settled at Roxbury, Mass. where she died in 1719. He then married second Elizebeth Dickerman Clapp, who was born in 1664. She died at Roxbury. He died at the same place in 1734. The records of Roxbury indicate that his position was at least respectable; he was a Select man, and frequently upon committees, sometimes as a man of the same for the transaction of important public trusts.
Edward and Elizabeth had the following children - Edward born 1680; an infant unnamed; Edmund B. 1686. All died in infancy. Those who survived to a mature age are listed as their family.
