Robert fought in the Revolutionary War. He was with George Washington's army at the crossing of the Delaware. Mass. Militia pay records indicate he also served during the War of 1812 from 19 Feb 1813 to 18 Feb 1814.
He was given 160.8 acres of land in Madison Co, Mississippi Territory on 6 Feb 1811. He was an assignee of James Criss for this land. The land is physically in the southeast quarter of Section 29.
Robert Alford sold the west half of his tract of land to Francis Crow for $475 on 26 Aug 1815. The deed transfer is recorded in Madison County Mississippi Territory Deed Book A, pages 185 and 186. He sold the east half of his tract of land to his son David Alford, for $500 on 25 Jan 1819. The deed transfer is recorded in Morgan County Alabama Deed Book E, pages 308 and 309.
