Dorcas married Horace T. BARNES in 1860 and had one son by him. Horace died in the Anderson Rebel Prison 19 June 1862. She then married Henry MONTGOMERY before 1870 with whom she had a son. Listed in 1880 census as D. C. Montgomery (39) and head of household with her mother, sons James A. Barnes (19) & H. L. Montgomery (11), and daughter Mary E. Montgomery (9). She also married a third husband John STRUTHERS and had a daughter with him, but took back the MONTGOMERY name when she moved to Washington to help take care of (her nephew) Darward’s children. She supposedly took care of them for only a couple of months because Dave (Darward) and her had a big fight over how to raise his youngest Mercy. She is not listed with him in the 1910 census.
