Adeleide arrived in New York on 9 May 1848 aboard the Amazon (a paddle wheel steamer with 2 funnels and 3 masts) from Le Havre, France. She was with her parents, Francois Alexandre (1811-1883) a farmer and Barbara Jeanne Mercier (1808-1876) Olivier, along with siblings Marie (6) and Francois (4); who were headed to Pennsylvania.
She is listed as age 23 in 1870 and age 29 in the 1880 census (1851).

He immigrated in 1845 and became a naturalized citizen.
In 1870 he is listed as (28) a Carpenter with his wife and two sons. Listed nearby are what appear to be his father and brother Hector, all from "France". It is not clear whether Joseph P. is his son or not.
The 1880 census lists him as Joseph Blancherd, a 36 year old Stone Mason born in Switzerland, and his parents born in “Baren” (Bern). His wife Adaline is 29 from France, and they have 7 children, all born in Ohio and listed with their last name as Blanchard.
By 1900, the family had moved to Colorado. He is listed as a stonemason, born June 1843 in Switzerland and immigrated in 1856, naturalized and married 34 yrs. Adelaide is listed as born May 1845 in France, immigrated in 1848, naturalized and 10 of her 11 children living. Children Frank (25), Henry (22), August (20), Lucy (17), Adelied (15), Annie (13), and Joseph (11) all born in Ohio.
The 1910 census lists them in Kansas, married 44 years, both French with 10 of their 11 children still living, and 2 sons and 2 daughters still in the household.
In 1920 he is Joseph Blanchat, widowed (76, Swiss), and living as a farmer with his son Frank and dau Mary.
