Timothy COLOPY, Miller township, farmer, was born in Miller township, Knox Co OH, March 8, 1823.
He was reared on a farm, and followed farming as his occupation. He was listed with his mother, Mary, as a farmer (23, OH) in the 1850 census. He married Miss Theresa M. Doyle (b. 1824 IRE) in 1850, daughter of James Doyle deceased, of Mt Vernon, Ohio. He is listed as Infirmary Director 1851-1854 in Knox Co records.
He enlisted in company F, First battalion, Eighteenth United States infantry in October 1861 at Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and served with the armies under Generals Buell, Rosecrans, and Thomas. He was in the battles of Chickamauga, Mission Ridge and Buzzard's Roost, besides a number of skirmishes. He was slightly wounded at Mission Ridge, on the chin. He was taken sick and discharged on account of physical disability after serving about two years and eight months.
They had five children, viz: Mary A., James W., Francis T., Nellie Margaret, and John P.
He is listed in the 1880 census as Timothy Collopy, a farmer, with his wife Theressa (38), and children Mary A. (13), and James W. (9), Francis T. (7), Margaret E. (4), and John P. (2) - the last three being listed with relationship “other”.
Listed in the 1900 census at age 77, married 33 yrs, with no occupation; with his wife Theresa (63, IA) whose 5 children are all living, and children at home: Frances (24), Nellie (22), and John (23).

Mrs. Teressa Colopy
Mrs. Teressa Colopy, widow of Timothy Colopy, died at 2:40 Wednesday afternoon at her home, 114 East Hamtramck street, after an extended illness of paralysis. The deceased Is survived by two sons, William Colopy and John Colopy and three daughters, Miss Mame Colopy, Miss Nellie Colopy and Mrs. Fannie Colopy.
