Margie passed away at home on June 28, 2023. She was born in 1928 to Donald & Florence (Blanchard) Colopy in Danville, Ohio. She graduated from Danville High School in 1946. She was married to Donald James Samples (passed 1.26.76) on October 6, 1951.
She is survived by her children: Christine Samples (Richard Bennett) of Mt. Vernon, OH James Samples (Deborah Samples) of Brinkhaven, OH, & Connie Samples (Thomas Snodgras) of Loudonville, OH. She loved her 4 grandchildren who she was very proud of their accomplishments and love of family unity. They are: Kim Aufrance (Gabe Aufrance) of Millersburg, OH, Brandon Samples (Kristen Samples) of Mt. Vernon, OH, Don Samples (Rebekah Samples) of Pittsburgh PA, and Joshua Samples of Loudonville, OH
Margie loved 12 beautiful great-grandchildren, they are: Luke Ogi, Cale Ogi, Kiegen Aufrance, Emerson Aufrance, Logan, Andrew, Bennett, & Zachery Samples, Sam, Sadie, & Sienna Samples, and Shelby Samples.
She was blessed with 7 brothers and sisters. Surviving brother Joseph Patrick Colopy, and reuniting with Donald Colopy, Regina Randall, Florence Heldenbrand, Richard Colopy, Robert Colopy, and Marilyn Arnold. She had numerous nieces and nephews who she enjoyed catching up with and learning about their families with visits and reunions. Margie was close to all her sisters-in-law and counted her blessings that they all loved and respected one another.
Margie was very active in the St. Luke Catholic Church. She could always be counted on for her angel food cakes, volunteering for church socials, board member to construct St. Lukes Community Center, Bible study groups and bring new members to St. Luke through the years. St. Luke’s was her second home. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary American Legion, Seed Sowers Garden Club, and volunteer at Interchurch Social Services. Margie was an avid reader, loved to travel in later years, and enjoyed playing cards with friends.
Margie helped her grandchildren as they were growing up and enjoyed birthday parties and holidays. She helped in her later years with a few of her great grandchildren. She felt the best part of her life was being a mother and raising her children. She was generous, conservative, marveled at all the technological changes in her lifetime, and felt she grew up in the greatest country on earth.
A funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 1 at St. Luke. Rev. Father Mark Hammond will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Luke Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 until service time. Memorial donations can be made to the church at PO Box P, Danville, OH 43014.
